TO PURSUE AN EVALUATION FOR ADHD IN OUR OFFICE, PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
First discuss your concerns with your primary doctor here at Pleasant Valley Pediatric Medical Group. If needed, they will refer you for a consulation with Dr. Deborah Marlow-Mejia. You will be given a packet of Questionnaires that need to be completed by you and your child's teacher(s) and a list of items to be gathered and submitted (past report cards, standardized tests, records of past medical and psychological evaluations, etc). Dr. Marlow-Mejia will review all the information and the office will notify you to make your initial appointment with her. This first consultation is for the parents without the child so you can openly discuss your concerns. If possible, arrange a visit when both parents can attend. Additional appointment(s) will be made for your child to be seen. Whe the evaluation is complete, a consultation with the parents alone will be scheduled to discuss the findings and consider possible interventions. Whether or not a specific diagnosis of ADHD is made, the problems presented need to be addressed. If further evaluation or treatment from additional professional (Psychologist, Educational Therapist, Psychiatrist, etc.) is indicated then appropriate referrals will be suggested.
**Please note that Dr. Marlow-Mejia is not a member of all insurance programs. Also, some insurance policies specifically do not cover consultations or do not consider ADHD under the same terms as other diagnoses. If your insurance cannot be used for the necessary consultations, Dr. Marlow-Mejia can be seen on a fee for service basis or your primary doctor can refer you to outside resources.
